6 word memoirs

I found this site today and find it very interesting.  I haven't spent a lot of time reading through, but several statements have caught my eye:

I know exactly why I'm here.

I see paint. She sees masterpiece.

My heart is beating for me.

Holding her for the first time.

Hope for success; prepare for failure.

Stand up. Be heard. Still listen.

They have different themes: life, happiness, love, resolutions, moms etc. But I think the simple beauty of them are touching. What would be your 6 word memoir for today? Mine would probably be:
Another week. Do more, be more.

(blush)

I haven't purchased makeup (besides mascara and moisturizer) since my wedding over 2.5 years ago. Partly because I left the single life behind, work from home and have few friends in Logan so I rarely go out, and partly because I got fat and lazy.
The other day when putting makeup on -a rare occasion- I dropped my great blush on the ground.
You can see the results.
It looks like it might be time to purchase some more.
This color is probably out of style anyway :)

don't give up.

I've felt some major disappointments this week and had some hard moments.  But remembering this quote has helped me get through them (for the most part):

It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is.
It all works out. Don't worry.
I say that to myself every morning.
It will all work out.
Put your trust in God, and move forward with faith and confidence in the future.
The Lord will not forsake us.
He will not forsake us.
If we will put our trust in HIm, if we will pray to Him, if we will live worthy of His blessings, He will hear our prayers.

-Gordon B. Hinckley-

It helps to know that God will not forsake us, even when we are in pain.

Amy Butler blocks

I have been spending a lot of time with my sewing machine the last few days. I cut into and finished my quilt blocks with Amy Butler's Love line and am using this quilt pattern that my sister let me borrow (over a year ago).  It is a very easy pattern for a beginner like me because the pieces and blocks are so big.

But I have a problem. I am worried that all the prints together are too busy, especially without solids to help give it contrast. Can you tell me what you think?
The lighting is horrible and the pictures aren't that great, but you get the idea.
I need help!

I also jumped on the bandwagon and decided to do this quilt along. I am a bit behind, but my strips are coming along.  Pictures to come soon!

do you have bad body double trouble?

I know this song is a little different, but I absolutely love it.  I'm pretty sure that one day we will realize that worrying so much about our body isn't that important. In the meantime, I'll keep trying to lose weight.... and eat some yummy food. :)

go here to listen.

She pops into the bathroom
Just after a shower and
She plays with my makeup and creams
Keeps trying to look like me

And goes through the motions
Posing this way and that,
Holding it in,
If it makes you feel better, then knock yourself out

Say hi there to my bad body double
This is my bad body double trouble
Oh no, my bad body double, mmmhm
I've got bad body double trouble, oh.

She's trouble
She's trouble
She's trouble, alright.

Yeah, yeah

Sometimes I manage to lose her
Shake her at a bar, in the gym for five minutes
It feels so good to be back to my own self again
Can get quite confusing.

We look very similar except she's got some grays and
A little extra weight on the sides
And dimply thighs,
I hear that stuff's a **** to get rid off
(No, no, no, no)

We're having quite an intimate, personal moment (not now)
Could you maybe come at a slightly less awful time? (not now)
She can see I've got someone quite nice here with me
Can't we just be left alone...
I guess that's a no then
Seeing as you're still here
Seeing as you're still here
Here

It's not me, no
It's my bad body double
I got bad body double trouble
Oh no, my bad body double, mmmhm
I've got bad body double trouble, agh.
Bad body double, mmhm.
I've got bad body double trouble
Oh dear, my bad body double.
I got bad body double trouble.

She's trouble
She's trouble
She's trouble, alright.
Yeah, yeah, yeah
She's trouble
She's trouble
She's trouble, alright.
Yeah, yeah, right there.

Can't shake her, Can't shake her, Can't shake her, Can't shake her
Everywhere I go, Everywhere I go, goooo
Can't shake her, Can't shake her, Can't shake her, Can't shake her
Everywhere I go, Everywhere I go, goooo

Say hi there,
To my bad body double
My bad, bad, bad body double.
She's trouble
I can't shake her
And I hate her, I hate her, I hate her, I hate her, I hate her.
She's everywhere I go,

I'm going to get rid
Of you once and for all...

free shoes

I got these shoes for free the other day.  I really am not that much of a pink girl and heaven knows I don't need one more pair of flats, but we had a coupon for $10 off a $10 purchase and they happened to be $10.  You can't beat that.  So I now have a pair of cute, bright pink flats.

I think it happens every year

The last few weeks I haven't had much motivation to blog. I think it happens to me every year.

I'll post when I do have something to post about.

In the meantime, I'm still reading your posts and love them. Keep 'em coming!

Oh, and happy Friday!

life

Isn't it amazing how things turn out in life?  Yesterday I spent several hours going through my mission pictures in hopes of finishing my mission scrapbook before a Groupon expires in Feb. (wish me luck!)

In addition to noticing how much skinnier I was back then, it hit me once again how much serving a mission changed my life.

I had no idea that I would one day marry Elder Perschon.

and I had no idea that I was meeting my future in laws on the last night of my mission either.

But I'm glad I did meet them, and I'm eternally grateful that I met Elder Perschon.

I was actually able to surprise him with a gift - it's a miracle!
he got some exciting phone calls

He didn't even have birthday cake.

wonderfulness

do you know what's wonderful?  Having your toenails painted a fun color. Even better when you don't have to be the one painting them.
Happy.

Tomorrow is 12of12 for those of you who are doing it. :)

New Years Eve

We spent New Years Eve with Jake's family in Riverton.  I did a horrible job planning ahead and tried to find sparklers last minute for our traditional pictures, but couldn't find them anywhere!

We spent the evening playing the kinect. The Dance Central game is so much fun. And we also played other games, including Ticket to Ride and Scum.

There were fun people and yummy snacks.

Linsey dancin' it up

And I spent time working on my new years resolutions.  I know have my notebook and goals ready to go.  My words for this year are simple: Live. Today.

I hope you had a great New Year's Eve and that your year is wonderful.

Christmas morning

Christmas morning brought fun for everyone.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love my parent's huge Christmas tree? It's a tradition, and I don't think sleeping under the Christmas tree would be as fun with a small tree.

This knight/ninja/warrior is the coolest ever!

We had so much fun Christmas day playing the kinect!!

Even the younger kids enjoyed it, and it is so fun to watch everyone take a turn.

the chaos of 33 people

I'm kind of behind on posting here, but still had to get some of my pictures up.  33 of us where home in Colorado for Christmas.  We had a great time, even though there was a lot of us.

On the 23rd, we went to the church building and played games. One of my awesome brothers organized it and we played human foosball and had some fun relay races. We also got to see some of our families talents. It was such a fun night. I think the adults enjoyed it as much as the children.

After letting the kids get some energy out, we went home and all of the 19 grandkids (minus 3 babies) continued the tradition we had as kids- we would spend one night sleeping under the Christmas tree.

Christmas is much more magical with children.

We had a great time. My mom got knee replacement surgery 10 days before so she was trying to recover with all of us there.  We all helped out with meals and took turns and it turned out great.

Everything is an adventure with a big family. And I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Look Not Behind Thee

It's been so wonderful to have Friday and today off of work. I have spent much of it contemplating what I want for myself in the new year and how I am going to accomplish it. After fasting, prayer and reflection I have come up with some goal for myself.  I am formatting my resolutions similar to the Happiness Project, with a theme for each month of the year to work on.  This month's theme: energy.

Happy New Year. May we all move forward with hope in what lies ahead.
