a wasted week
This has been a hard week. I have felt like crap since Monday. Well, I didn't feel super good a few days before that but one day it all hit. I know you don't need all the details, but I'm tried, sore, nauseous, bloated and did I mention that I hurt everywhere?
So, I am embarrassed to admit, I have done absolutely nothing this week. I laid on the couch but was too tired to read so only read a few chapters in my book. The rest of the time was spent picking a tv series to watch on netflix and then (once I was caught up to the current show) picking another series. So embarrassing. I don't even like tv. And I watched all 17 episodes of the first show in one day- because I did NOTHING.
But at least I can tell you that White Collar is a good show (currently in season 2) and Once Upon a Time intrigues me because I want to see where this fairytale is going.
Hopefully I don't find out for a while though, because I don't want a repeat of this week.
Hoping you had a more productive week then me, enjoy your weekend.

weekly update
This week went by quickly with a lot of driving involved. We had some family in town this weekend in Utah County so we spent the weekend with them. Here are some of the things we did.
Saturday morning we went to the Conference Center on Temple Square to watch my niece, Emmeline sing. She is part of a group singing in the YW meeting next Saturday and we were able to watch the rehearsal.

yoga pants
I've been thinking the last 2 days about 2012. So far, it's been an interesting year- and it's only March. This year I think I've had more ups and downs than all of last year. Or maybe it's just fresh on my memory this year, but the melt-downs have been plentiful this year.
Was today one of those days? Well, let's just say, today was a yoga pants day. Life is good, don't get me wrong. We have been so blessed and I have a wonderful husband, an amazing family, such supportive friends and so many more blessings. I have laughed and smiled today and enjoyed a good book. I have just had so many things on my mind and pressing on my heart that this year has been hard on me.
I'm tired, but I'm getting enough sleep. I'm sore but I need even more exercise. I'm not hungry but I still eat crappy food. I love to sew and have so many projects I want to do, but I lack the motivation.
I'm doing better at filling my day with a to-do list and crossing it off. We are working towards something wonderful and are moving forward with faith. I'm still applying for jobs and going to interviews.
Honestly, the hardest part about it all is that I have been filled with a knowledge of all of my weaknesses.
And it's my weaknesses that make things so much harder. We need to have a better budget and save money, but I'm horrible at making dinner. I am average at so many things but not amazing at any one thing. I want to learn so many things that I spread myself too thin. I give up too easily. I get too intimated to try something I've been dreaming of doing. I need to find a job, but that's the last thing I want to do at this point in my life. We're poor but all I want to do is spend money.
Honestly- how do I get to my age without having better control and knowing that spending money doesn't make me feel better? Have you heard the saying "when you can't change your life, change your hair?" Well my new one should be "when you can't earn money, spend it" or something like that- because I'm dang good at it. Like the quote that I've seen on Pinterest: "I've never been a millionaire, but I know I'd be darling at it."
And don't get me wrong- I definitely need to change my hair too. The only problem is that involves spending more money. So for now I'm going to get out of my yoga pants, pull on some jeans and get busy. Because one day I will look back on this time and be disappointed I didn't use it better.

weekly update
Since it's Tuesday, I figured I would post my Sunday update :)
February wasn't that great as far as my goals go, but a new month brings a new opportunity to do better.
I'm simplifying the goals and hubby and I have one we are working on together-a better schedule for going to bed and getting up.
In March I'm going to try to organize my house and my life. I'm starting slowly- so far I've done some drawers and cabinets in the kitchen as well as some of the files on my computer. I'm also including in this goal the 10 minute clean up each day.
My bonus goal (if I can get myself to focus on four) is to floss daily. I hate flossing. I detest flossing. Almost as much as I hate sweeping and mopping the floor. But especially with no dental insurance, I need to take care of my teeth so it's on the list.
Today is focused on accomplishing a nagging task that I actually want to do, it's just been something I've been avoiding because it's a bigger project. Do any of you do that? Have wonderful plans for a big project but then get too nervous to actually start it? This is one I've started but never finished. I'm bad at starting and finishing projects. I just like the dreaming about them part :)
Well, have a great day!

March 4th.
We sang this in honor of March 4th today. And I absolutely loved it.
Behold! A royal army, with banner sword and shield, Is marching forth to conquer on life's great battlefield. It's ranks are filled with soldiers, united bold and strong. Who follow their commander and sing their joyful song:
Victory, victory thru, Him who redeemed us. Victory, victory, through Jesus Christ our Lord! Victory, victory, victory thru Jesus Christ, our Lord!
I think it's a gentle reminder in the midst of our busy lives to keep marching forth and to not give up.
Have a great day.

eleven.
Recently, I was tagged by two different friends and I'm finally now getting around to it.
Here are the rules:
1. Post the rules
2. Share eleven random things about myself
3. Answer the eleven questions from the post I was tagged in
4. Create eleven new questions for my tagees to answer
5. Tag eleven people
Eleven random things:
1. I have pieces of thread all over myself when I sew. I don't know if that means I'm bad at it or what, but it's true.
2. I was more organized when I was single.
3. I should have been born in Southern California like my mom because I hate snow.
4. I'm not a big animal person
5. no allergies.
6. I have a second interview today at ifrogz.
7. I shoveled the driveway twice in the last two days
8. sometimes I "just need my mom"- no matter how grown up I am.
9. I never imagined myself living in a small town.
10. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and think I'm somewhere else. I'll picture an apartment I used to live in or something and it will take me a minute or two to go back to reality.
11. I've lost 13 lbs since the beginning of the year and have a lot more to go.
Now onto the 22 questions to answer:
1. Do you keep a journal?
Yes, I write in it every Sunday before church starts.
2. What's your favorite type of music?
I love all music but as I get older I like country more because it seems more like real life to me.
3. What are some of your pet peeves?
When drawers and cabinet doors are left open. Chewing without your mouth closed.
4. What is/was your favorite subject in school?
English. I love reading. Writing not as much.
5. Of all your friends, who have you known the longest?
High school. Although there are only a few that I keep in touch with from high school so of my other friends I would say roommates.
6. Where do you see yourself one year from now?
Starting our family (hopefully) or if not in graduate school.
7. If you had to guess, how many phone numbers do you actually have memorized?
Three. I have a horrible memory.
9. What are your feelings on Mullets?
nasty. Unless you know they are nasty but are sporting one just for kicks- then they are ok.
10. What's your earliest (positive) memory?
Once again I have a horrible memory, but I remember my kind kindergarten teacher and how much I loved her.
11. If you were to set me up on a date, who would it be with and why? (Real or fictional.)
Hmm...I would have to find the perfect guy because I only know single guys. But why not the guy that you always post about on your blog? ;)

cake decorating class
Last night was my last cake decorating class. It lasted 4 weeks and the first week I missed the whole second half of the class. I took this with my friend Becky and had a wonderful time with her. Becky is a natural at it and... let's just say I am no where near that.
I learned a bunch and need a lot more practice but at this point if I taste any cake, cupcakes or frosting for the next few weeks, I think I may die. And I think my neighbor feels the same way, because I keep taking treats to her to get rid of them here.
Here are my final products. I'm just hoping you don't see them on cake wrecks one of these days.
