weekly miracle

Would you like to know what my miracle for the week was?
On Monday, I spilled an entire glass of water all over my precious MacBook Pro.  An hour later after taking it apart and drying it out, it turned back on and I have been using it ever since.

Trust me, I prayed hard. And I received a tender mercy from God. And my husband rocks with computer stuff.

I guess you could say we had many more miracles this week. I would tell you about the other exciting one but I don't want to count my chicks before they hatch. :)

Happy Birthday, Dad!

it's my Dad's birthday today. I called him this morning to tell him, but I don't think I fully expressed how much I love him and appreciate him.  He has spent so much of his time in the last few weeks helping us with the house buying process and answering questions, in the midst of everything else he has going on.  I love you Dad, thanks for being so selfless and for everything you have taught me.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter. To see my fun Easter eggs, go here

He is Risen
Walter Rane

No words in Christendom mean more to me than those spoken by the angel to the weeping Mary Magdalene and the other Mary as they approached the tomb to care for the body of their Lord: “Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen” (Luke 24:5–6).
With this pronouncement, those who have lived and died, those who now live and one day will die, and those yet to be born and yet to die had just been rescued.
Of Him who delivered each of us from endless death, I testify He is a teacher of truth—but He is more than a teacher. He is the exemplar of the perfect life—but He is more than an exemplar. He is the great physician—but He is more than a physician. He is the literal Savior of the world, the Son of God, the Prince of Peace, the Holy One of Israel, even the risen Lord, who declared, “I am the first and the last; I am he who liveth, I am he who was slain; I am your advocate with the Father” (D&C 110:4).

so true

Yesterday we got to hear Ann Dibb speak. It was wonderful and we were so glad we went. It was spiritually uplifting and also very funny. We both left smiling and enjoyed some good laughs as we heard her talk about her father, President Monson.  One of the funny things that she said was something to the effect of:

from Logan to Salt Lake it takes about an hour and a half. But from Salt Lake to Logan it takes about 4 hours for those of us in Salt Lake!

It is so true. Sad, but true. I can't believe how many people who always tell us that it is too far to drive to come to Logan yet they  expect us to drive down there. I was joking with some friends at church who had friends there visiting from Orem. I told them, "you must be really good friends because we can't get our friends to come up here to visit" and they said, "it took a long time to get them to come up!"  :)

if at first you don't succeed

you get discouraged
then you stop and give up and try not to cry
then you eat something fattening
then you look at what other people have been able to do
then you decide you aren't going to try again
then you realize that you really want to learn
then you eat some chocolate
then you sleep on it
then you avoid looking at other people's results
then you decide that people aren't lying when they say practice makes perfect
then you try again

and then, after much practice and time, you will succeed.  the key is sticking with it. and making sure you have plenty of chocolate on hand :)

April goal

my happiness project goal for the month is finances.  Since we are planning on buying a house soon (we have an offer in on one, but it will be a while until we hear back) we have really trying to keep to a tight budget.   One of my goals this month is to write down how much I spend each day.  Even though we have an online bank statement for this purpose, when I write it down each night it helps me realize if I am really doing well or not.
This weekend we definitely had some fun times with family in town. And although I did have some larger purchases to keep track of, they were good buys.  We had a successful trip to American Fork's DI on Saturday, and Jake and I had a successful one to the DI in Logan today. The good thing about today's trip= no project.  Pictures to come soon.

I know I haven't blogged in a while, but I don't have much to blog about. Just trying to keep my head above water.  This weekend it was wonderful to see family that was in town.  We spent Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake/Utah County and then came back up Sunday for church and the chance to listen to Richard G. Scott in a devotional for temple workers. It was lovely.

While down in Provo, we were able to go see the Carl Bloch exhibit at the BYU Museum of Art. If you haven't been yet, go now before it ends.

have a great week.

April fool's day

Happy April 1st and happy Friday too!! I hope you are all enjoying sunny weather. We have had nice weather for the past two days and it is wonderful.  I love spring.

Have I told you all how much I am enjoying this site?  This was their April fool's joke today and I though it was clever, although I couldn't look at it long.  Anyway, Pinterest is so cool!! Basically you can make boards of pictures however you want and organize them how you want too. You can install the button on the top of your browser so that when you see a picture you like, you can pin it to a board. I am loving it since it is an easy way for me to keep ideas at hand and stored online.  I think they will let you join on their website, but if not let me know and I can invite you if you are interested.

Here's another fun april fools joke:
