For those of you who know me, you know that this is one of my favorite places on earth. Especially Newport Beach, California. We are here and had our first day yesterday. Although I am working while we are here, it still feels so good. Now if the clouds would just go away so it can be sunny!!

The summer has been so busy, there isn't much time to post. Lake Powell was amazing- I will have to post later after I pick out my favorite pictures!! We are having another busy weekend with Ashley's wedding and then we will be on our way to Newport Beach, CA for a few days. Jake is taking his insurance licensing test somewhere along the way- either in Salt Lake or St. George or Cali.
This is completely random, but I was searching for a substitution for wheat germ in a recipe I am making and found this comic. If any of you wonder why I cook very little, it's because we already know our smoke detectors work and I don't' feel like checking them every other day is necessary

Have you ever felt like you are trying to communicate with someone and its just not getting through? I have many times (the number has dramatically increased since marriage). This months calendar image made me laugh out loud when I turned the page to June and I had to share it because I'm sure some of you feel this way sometimes too.

summer is here

Summer is officially here, and along with it all the fun events. Last weekend we had a fun time in Salt Lake with my parents in town and got to spend some time together with 5 of us siblings. It was Nathan's birthday ( my oldest nephew) and it was fun to spend some time with everyone. We are both behind on our sleep now and Jake enjoyed getting to play- how many? 3?4? 5? games of Acquire.
Thursday and Friday we are so excited to have some vistors up here in Logan!! Emily and her kids are coming and it gives us a reason to clean our apartment and clear out our 2nd bedroom, which has been the junk room.
Then Sunday it is off to Lake Powell for a week with Jake's family. I am excited to not worry about work and to read as much as I want. :) I'm not too excited for a whole week of looking horrible in a swim suit, but oh well.
We will then be back for a week before we head off to Newport Beach, CA for 2 weeks. I can't wait!!! To me, the beach is heaven on earth and we haven't seen Grandpa for a year so I am excited.
I hope you all are having a fabulous summer. I only regret that it feels like it is going by so fast. :)

Lola's tire has now been fixed so we are back to bike riding- it was just a day detour. I forgot to mention that I am loving home made ice cream! We have made it twice now- the first time with strawberries and raspberries and now with mint oreos and it is soooo good.
It doesn't really go with the whole exercise and losing weight plan though...
Lately I have been praying and thinking so much about my aunt. She recently went through treatment for breast cancer and beat it only to find that it is now in her brain and spreading to her lymh nodes. I only write this because her grace and way of handling it has been so amazing. She, like my Dad (her brother), are always positive no matter what and that is one quality I admire greatly.

what I have been enjoying lately...

Here are some of the few things I have been enjoying lately:

-My friend Lola. I have tried to go for a ride on her every day, but as you can see from the pic the front tire is currently being fixed so she is out of commission today. Not to brag, but I think she is the cutest bike ever!!

-I have had fun making these cute little flowers. I have only done 4, but I definitely want to see if they will sell in the store or at our booth at the Cache County Fair in August. If anyone wants one, let me know!

-My crocs. I love crocs. While I have heard so many good things about Chacos, they are pretty pricey and I don't like the look of them too much. Luckily, crocs are cheaper and the only shoes I can wear when I work at the store all day without having my feel hurt. I just ordered some more with the birthday money I got (thanks Mom and Dad!) and am excited to get them in the mail. These are the new cute ones I am excited to try on:


-Atlas Shrugged. I have been reading this book (until 2 weeks ago when I left it at my brother's house a few hours away) and so far it is so interesting!! There are so many parrallels to our world today and it is crazy. In reading the book and looking at our world I keep feeling that for those who are righteous the truth is so clear and yet for the rest of the world it is the exact opposite- they see the good as evil and the evil as good.
It is ok that I have to wait to get the book back, because I also have started reading Don Quiote. I need to read it in English this summer so I am prepared for a semester of it in Spanish in the fall. Although I do hate being in the middle of several books- I prefer to finish one before starting another.

-Listening to Dennis Prager. He is my favorite talk show host and is always enjoyable to listen to. He also has some interesting videos on Youtube called Prager University. You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn4IH3yng4k

-Spending time with my wonderful husband. We have been enjoying our time together and it has been great. I love him so much.
