Recent randomness

I'm losing my mind. Two examples to prove my case:

-Last week I took the garbage out for our Thursday garbage day- on Thursday night.

-The week before that I spent 20 minutes putting my contacts in and one eye would go blurry every time I put the contact in. After freaking out that I was going blind, I decided to take them out and when I did I realized that I had put both contacts into one eye- hence the blurriness.

Continuing on with other randomness:

-crunchy Cheetos have been tasting delicious to me the past few days.

-we didn't dye Easter eggs but we still can't go without our egg salad sandwiches.

-I want to be at the beach so bad right now- in spite of my never beach ready body.

-I have hit a wall with sewing. I want to do it so much but when I sit down to start working on something it takes so long to prep it that I never actually get to the sewing part.

-We have watched the first 3 Harry Potter movies since Saturday night which basically means we have to finish the rest of them now. (no complaints here).

-Saturday night I almost bought a cute navy blue & white polka dot dress. It was marked wrong at $20 so I decided to get it and have a cute dress for church. When they told me it was $40, I didn't get it because I was mad they didn't honor the $20 price. But I kind of still want it...

-We tried a new restaurant in town for lunch on Friday (huHot) and went back on Monday night with friends.  We may or may not have plans to go back this Friday with some other friends also. Let's just hope they don't recognize us.

because I blog so little

This post is a post of randomness.

-I completed 1 quilt in 2012. 1 quilt with a backing, binding, etc. I have many quilt tops, but only 1 quilt completed. This quilt was given to my mother in law for Christmas.

star quilt

-Logan is cold. very, very cold.

Logan is cold.

- I begged Jake to let me buy him these jeans pajamas for his birthday this coming Sunday. I even told him that since the brand is "Disguise" he could get away with wearing them as jeans. Jake told me he'd pass.

seriously?

- I decided to do Project 365 this year. The only way I will complete it is having this app that sends me a reminder and gives me a space on the calendar to put each picture.

project 365

-To help with my balance in 2013, I'm currently doing a resolutionary challenge that my sister is in charge of this year. It runs for 12 weeks and I get points for doing certain things each day, such as eating 7 servings of fruits & veggies, exercising, keeping a gratitude journal, etc.

- I finished my first quilt of 2013 last week. You can see the details here.

sugar pop quilt -first quilt finish of 2013!

-My sister is hosting a quilt along and I am super excited about doing it.

Swooning for Christmas
It's the scrappy swoon along and you can find details here. Please join us!! My fabrics are all picked out and ready to go.

I've got my fabrics picked out!

-Balance is key right now with all we have going on. I've picked up something extra in my schedule that I'm excited about. It has made me realize how grateful I am for mobile devices like my phone and ipad mini that helps me stay in touch and do more.

measured out

Her life is being measured away, cupful by cupful.  -The Hours by Michael Cunningham

This is exactly how I feel about my life- it's being measured away week by week.  A week passes and I still can't tell you what I did.  But I'm trying to remember the small moments...

Like last night when we were watching Leverage and I started crying in the episode when Hardison was buried alive- and then kept crying for no reason.

Yeah- moments like that remind me I'm still alive- even though I can't always tell you why I'm feeling the way I am.

$2 steal

my blog hasn't been very exciting lately; and I have no guarantees that it will get better soon, but that's ok.

Last week was good, but fairly uneventful.  We were able to plant some of our garden and I had a craft night with some friends, which is always fun.
Other then that, I had a job interview, went to the gym and Jake and I enjoyed some time watching White Collar together.

Wednesday I went to Kohl's because I always do when I get the free $10 coupon on the mail. $10 off any purchase is great.  Sometimes I need something in particular so I  use it for that but otherwise I try to stay as close as I can to the $10 so I don't go over. At the same time I don't want to pick something that is only $7 because that means that there are $3 of free stuff I could be getting.  (I know I sound crazy).

This is what I ended up with.

It was on clearance for $11.99, which means that after my coupon and tax it was $2 and change.  I have no idea if I will use it often, but I will definitely be giving it a try.  I've heard that the cake pop version is great and makes perfectly round cake balls, but I haven't talked to anyone who has tried the pie pop one. I'm not even a big pie person.  But for $2, I figured it may be worth a try.

eleven.

Recently, I was tagged by two different friends and I'm finally now getting around to it.

Here are the rules:
1. Post the rules
2. Share eleven random things about myself
3. Answer the eleven questions from the post I was tagged in
4. Create eleven new questions for my tagees to answer
5. Tag eleven people

Eleven random things:

4. I'm not a big animal person
5. no allergies.
6. I have a second interview today at ifrogz.
7. I shoveled the driveway twice in the last two days
8. sometimes I "just need my mom"- no matter how grown up I am.

nasty.  Unless you know they are nasty but are sporting one just for kicks- then they are ok.
10. What's your earliest (positive) memory?

Once again I have a horrible memory, but I remember my kind kindergarten teacher and how much I loved her.
11. If you were to set me up on a date, who would it be with and why? (Real or fictional.)

Hmm...I would have to find the perfect guy because I only know single guys. But why not the guy that you always post about on your blog? ;)

1. What is your biggest vice?  I give up too easily.
2. If you could have any one talent what would it be?  That's too hard to decide. It would definitely be something creative though like drawing, painting, designing, etc.

5. What was your favorite TV show growing up?  Tie between Jem, American Gladiators and Macgyver.
6. Would you rather have a unibrow for the rest of your life or never be able to shave your legs? unibrow- that's less hair.

my mirror that I want to finish
sewing
life without a job. I'm starting to freak out.
how fast life goes.
waiting upon the Lord. it's hard.
how fun it has been to watch my paper whites grow. I have a blossom today!
How great these videos are.

feeling the need

I've been really feeling the need to continue my education and get a master's degree in something that can give me a career I want.  The only problem is that so many of the careers I want seem so far out of reach. (home blogger, professional organizer, magically becoming amazing at quilting, etc and making $ off it, etc.)

I've tried to make a list of programs that I am interested in and could actually see myself doing.  I'm open to suggestions.  If any of you happen to have a perfect career plan for me, let me know ;)

Here's what I have come up with

-Master in Library Science  to become a librarian
-Master in Instructional Technology and Learning Services - write online classes, help with web design, etc.   I don't know what I would actually do with this degree, but the coursework sounds interesting to me: DVD Design and Production, Instructional Graphic Production, Digital Video Capture and Production, etc.
-Graphic Design
-Interior Design - if I did this I would get a Certified Professional Organizer certification. (although if any of you saw my house right now you would definitely give me a big no on this one)
-MBA - the only thing with this is that I feel it would be a great "title" to have but don't have a specific goal  with where I want to go with it.

My problem with making a decision:  a) uncertainty often paralyzes me.  b) I don't have the confidence that I will be good at any of these things.  (which happens to be the reason that I have never been able to make a decision- I am now amazing at any one thing) c) finding the time and $ to do this.

I'm still waiting for that amazing ball of light to appear and point me in the direction I should go. But, since I know it's not coming (otherwise I would have known by now), I figured I would ask for your advice.
or maybe I should do something crazy like become a lion tamer. :)

a plug

I'm giving a plug for 2 different websites I have been on lately.

The first is the photographer who I am taking classes with:
http://brookesnow.com/
(BTW if I refer someone to take her class, I get a $50 credit)

I wish I lived closer to my sister so I could have her teach me, she is wonderful.

And this cute site is a interior design website. One of the girls who runs it goes to church with me and is super cute.

this was a first for me and I thought it was pretty funny. I had to take some pictures.

I know, I'm weird like that.

Anyway, Happy Friday!

translation

thanks everyone for your advice yesterday, I am going to try to tackle that project tonight or tomorrow.

I was searching online today for a customer's company to get a better idea of what an asian burrito is and saw this funny picture:

on this blog.  sometimes translation is hard. I know I have probably messed up some words speaking Spanish.  I can't imagine how hard it would be to learn english, but you've got to admit it's pretty entertaining some times.

holds

does anyone always have this dilemma?  i know it's really not a big deal, but I think it's ironic.

I love our local library and constantly put books I want to read on hold. The old me would just buy them, but I in an attempt to save money and only own books that are really good, I have been using the library.    Here's the pattern for me, it's just the way things go.

There is a waiting period because a lot of the books are ones that everyone else wants to read (like when I see that  I am 22 of 38 in the queue) and in that time period I read books I have had on the shelf but have never completed. Then I find a really good book I want to buy, so I get it and read the first few chapters, and then 3 of the books I have had on hold are available all at the same time.  So, I have to hurry and read them before they are due in 3 weeks. And then the waiting period begins.  It really shouldn't be hard to read a book a week, but sometimes life gets in the way.

Yesterday I picked up 3 at the library.  :) I just think it's kind of funny how it always works out.

gold

Jake and I get to listen to each other talk to clients on the phone. Most of the time it is annoying, asking the other to talk softer so we can hear, often it helps us tell each other what we need to improve upon in our phone conversations, and occasionally listening to the other person's conversation just makes the other person crack up.

Example:
Today Jake answers the phone the usual way: "Hot Site, this is Jake how can I help you today?"
the next thing I hear from Jake in a very confused voice is "You won some gold???"
it was quickly cleared up to be "I want site code" in heavily accented english, but I was laughing hard for the next 5 minutes, trying not to distract Jake from helping the customer.

milestones

There are so many milestones that we have in life- big and small. On Saturday we had a small one (which Jake was kind enough to take pictures of since I wasn't there). Our truck hit 100,000 miles. Now many of you may not think it's a big deal, but I think it's a fun little thing to celebrate, especially when you know it's a Toyota so it will last another 100,000. I remember celebrating the same thing on my old Toyota Camry in high school. I must admit, I am a little biased towards Toyota, but at least I am honest enough to admit it. :)

Another interesting thing I have been thinking about lately- ever since the BYU vs USU game. It was so interesting to me that those from USU who didn't like the fact that we were BYU fans called us names and used foul language.(USU has the worst fans in the WAC) Now, I know many may think I am crazy for making this connection, but I think it was so sad. I asked one of them: Is that what you do in life? Call someone names and insult them if you disagree with them?
It makes me think of everything that is going on in the political world right now- liberals keep coming up with all these names for conservatives just because they have a different viewpoint- racist, fear-monger, homophobic, etc. It is so interesting to me that all these adults do something that is so immature instead of having a conversation about differing viewpoints. Perhaps it starts with something simple like sports fans....
It also makes me want to improve my communication so that I never catch myself doing something so irrational and immature, but just respectfully disagree with others.
