precious

Life is precious. Our time on this earth is precious. Lately I have had some family members lose someone close to them very suddenly. The news yesterday of a sudden death has caused me to stop and think about so many things.   Obviously God needed that person with him, but it is hard to think of what will happen to that person's little girls here on earth.
It has caused me to reflect on my life. What would happen if I lost my husband suddenly? We have so many goals and dreams for our future and it would all be gone in an instant. What would I do by myself?  Would I mourn the fact that I did not have a child with my husband or would I be grateful to not have to worry about it?  Where would I live? What would I do?
I am grateful for the knowledge that God has a plan for us and that their is life after death.  And I am grateful for this precious time we have.

better

I didn't have the best day today, but my husband brought me these beautiful flowers.  It sure helped make my day better.  Off to snuggle up and watch a movie with him.

day with friends

Yesterday I took the day off of work to spend the day with my friend Liz. We sewed and talked and left and ate an amazing sandwich.  It feels good to have a good friend that you can spend a day with and plan to do it again soon.

march madness

I don't follow a lot of sports, but when March Madness comes around, I love filling out my bracket and watching some fun basketball games.  Jimmer has made BYU especially fun to watch this year and I really enjoyed the game on Saturday. I was a bit jealous that it was in Denver and some of my family was at the game- (my Dad at both Denver games) so last night when one of my brothers suggested flying out to New Orleans to go to the game on Thursday I really considered it.  This brother lives in Mississippi now and it would be so fun to go see him. But the cheapest flights are $900 there and back and its just a bit too pricey for me, not to mention the fact that this is super spontaneous and I have a ton going on this week. One day I'll be able to afford things like that (I hope). But for now, I'll be watching the game at home.

we don't know exactly what is ahead of us in the next few months.  Jake will be graduating, and then life will turn into 100% work for us. We aren't sure where we will be going, but we know it will still be in Logan for a bit and we are hoping to buy a house.
I was just thinking of a few things we will miss from our current location when we move and a few things we will be grateful to leave behind.
1. we will miss being so close to main street and being able to tell when something fun is going on in downtown Logan
2. we will miss the amazing ward we are in
3. I will miss walking to zumba class and, while walking being able to see the beautiful sitting room of the mortuary nearby. Seriously, I want their interior designer's phone number.
4. the fact that someone comes through and plows our alleyway/driveway and we don't have to.
5. we will miss being within very close walking distance to the tabernacle and the temple.
We won't miss
1. having to use lamps to light our house (thank goodness for overhead lighting)
2. hearing the police and fire truck sirens all the time (they are only a few blocks away and always take the route that goes by our house)
3. not having a dishwasher
4. listening to the noise of cars driving by all day long.

finished quilt top

I need color in my life and this quilt satisfies that need.  It is very busy and full of color, but I love it.  I decided to add a solid border to help with the busyness and will probably back it in a solid color.  This is the first quilt top that I have actually cut and pieced all by myself!

it's amazing

It's amazing how much better I feel after exercising. Yes I am sweaty and well aware of how fat I am, but I feel so optimistic afterward.  I usually have a smile on my face and a great attitude toward making effective changes to be healthier.  If only I could have that feeling when I am trying to motivate myself to start exercising.
And don't forget it's Jimmer-time tonight!! I live in USU territory, but my heart will always be at BYU.

simple and difficult

"Love one another and you will be happy, it is as simple and as difficult as that."
-Michael Leunig-

My March goal for my Happiness Project is marriage. I am trying to be a better wife, to be flexible and to show more love toward my husband.  It is really simple. But some days I lose my patience and it is pretty difficult- not because my husband is not wonderful- he is amazing, but because of my short comings and my human nature.

purple pillows

This week I made two purple pillows. It's kind of funny, because purple is definitely not one of my colors, but both were gifts for other people.
The first was my first log cabin block ever that I decided to use for a pillow.  I know it's not that great, but I tried.

This second pillow was really fun to make. I ordered the owl piece here  and knew I wanted to make a pillow for a friend's boutique who loves owls.  I am happy with how it turned out.  I really like the print, even though I'm not that into the owl thing. This cute owl may make me reconsider.

back burner

my blog has definitely been on the back burner lately.  Jake and I have both been very busy, which is good, but tiring.  I am taking some classes Jake has been teaching so I can get my insurance license, which keeps me busy 3 nights a week.  My poor sewing machine feels neglected and our place is desperately in need of a deep clean, but all is well.
I realized this week that gone are the days of college life for us.  Jake's spring break was spent with him working his 2 jobs and me working.  We have had some small bits of fun mixed in with the craziness of life though.  We are loving working in the temple on Saturday mornings and were able to go down to Salt Lake last weekend to see some people we love.
Jake dropped me off at Home Goods where I met up with my sister and we had a fun time looking around.
that is where I fell in love with this china and a few other things.

My camera has also felt very neglected lately as I have taken few pictures, and most of them that I do take happen to be on my phone.
