I've been really feeling the need to continue my education and get a master's degree in something that can give me a career I want. The only problem is that so many of the careers I want seem so far out of reach. (home blogger, professional organizer, magically becoming amazing at quilting, etc and making $ off it, etc.)
I've tried to make a list of programs that I am interested in and could actually see myself doing. I'm open to suggestions. If any of you happen to have a perfect career plan for me, let me know ;)
Here's what I have come up with
-Master in Library Science to become a librarian
-Master in Instructional Technology and Learning Services - write online classes, help with web design, etc. I don't know what I would actually do with this degree, but the coursework sounds interesting to me: DVD Design and Production, Instructional Graphic Production, Digital Video Capture and Production, etc.
-Graphic Design
-Interior Design - if I did this I would get a Certified Professional Organizer certification. (although if any of you saw my house right now you would definitely give me a big no on this one)
-MBA - the only thing with this is that I feel it would be a great "title" to have but don't have a specific goal with where I want to go with it.
My problem with making a decision: a) uncertainty often paralyzes me. b) I don't have the confidence that I will be good at any of these things. (which happens to be the reason that I have never been able to make a decision- I am now amazing at any one thing) c) finding the time and $ to do this.
I'm still waiting for that amazing ball of light to appear and point me in the direction I should go. But, since I know it's not coming (otherwise I would have known by now), I figured I would ask for your advice.
or maybe I should do something crazy like become a lion tamer. :)

I vote for lion tamer :) Good luck in the decision process - I'm sure it's super daunting. I know you'll do great at whatever you choose, seriously!
Everyone I know who has done the Instructional Design route has loved it! I did my minor in that area - Photoshop, web design, videos, etc... I think it's so useful and you could still work from home. There's always a need for people who understand technology!
PS! I think you're great for wanting more education. Go for it!
I think Natalie has a great point. But regarding your b) point in not making a decision - you would be EXCELLENT at any one of these things, Kristen! You are so self disciplined and such a hard worker. I think that you should pursue something that you could exercise your unique creativity - you are so creatively minded - your design (whether that be interior or web) would be coveted by so many people! That's just what I think. Plus, creating/designing things obviously makes you happy and is fulfilling to you.
You would be great with instructional design and we would hire you in a hot minute!! However, I think you would feel more fulfilled creatively if you do graphic design. But you'd love all the shopping and planning and end results of being an interior designer. You know what you should do? All of it. You're the only one that would be able to take a degree and do anything you want with it. You just have to figure out what would make you happiest.
My best decision was getting my MBA. It has opened doors and taken me places I never even thought of going and was the key to getting me on track to my dream career goal. It isn't quite as exciting or fun as the other realms of study you suggest though!
Let me give you advice on a master's program after this first semester in mine. Then I can give you an educated and realistic opinion. Mostly though, I think you should totally pursue any one of those you mentioned. President Hinckley advised us to get all the education we can and I think Master's degrees should be a goal of more women. Go and do! ...and don't let yourself get in your way ;)
