maxi dresses

I've totally been loving the long dress lately. Although I don't own one, I stumbled across a few awesome ones that I would love to try on someday.

both from this site.
Not to mention that I think I love everything from Shabby Apple (and own nothing of theirs).

4 states

sorry for the lack of posting, I've been in a bit of a daze lately and am trying to get back into the swing of things.

When we went to Mississippi a few weeks ago, we did a lot of driving. While there we had the opportunity of going through parts of 4 different states.  We stopped and took pictures of each one. Louisiana totally messed us up though- their sign was gone. So we took a picture between the posts instead.

Lousiana. We all have great smiles because we are laughing about taking a picture between two posts. Dad volunteered to take the picture so he didn't have to admit to that. :)

Arkansas- Brent works in Arkansas and lives in Mississippi.
We also flew into the Little Rock, Arkansas airport.

We went and stayed in Memphis after the BYU game in Oxford, MS. Memphis was an adventure.

Mississippi. Brent & Christa were so kind to let us stay at their home.

Mississippi

We had such a great time last weekend.  We went out to visit Brent & Christa and their little girls last weekend and were able to go to a BYU football game while we were there.  I couldn't think of a better way to spend time with Brent then to go to a BYU game with him since he loves it so much.

We had such a fun time and spent it with such wonderful people.

And, of course I got to spend time with my amazing husband. He was such a champ in being one of the drivers.  We did go through 4 different states while we were there.
I did forget how bad my curly hair is in the humidity, but BYU won, I got to spend as much time as I could holding sweet Elsie and playing with darling Brinley and Brent & Christa were so kind and patient with us, even when I complained about the game that I didn't understand :).  We love them so much and are so glad we went!

society

I finished listening to this audio book yesterday.

I really liked it. I don't know why, but I couldn't stop listening to it. I've been frustrated with my lack of reading recently so I decided to pick up some more audio books so I can listen while I am doing other tasks and both this one and the first Penderwicks book were great choices.

This book, just like other dystopian books (Hunger Games, etc) make me think so much of society. It is interesting to imagine the type of society these characters live in, and it always makes me think of our society.
Our society tells us so many things which we accept and live. But I wonder if we ever really make the decision or if we are just told that it is the thing to do.
Such as drinking.  Honestly, I've never understood how something that is fermented, tastes nasty and makes you lose control of yourself could be a thing to look forward to. Yet our society tells us we should.
Society tells us which women are pretty and that you have to be a certain size, height, hair color.
Society tells us that we have to make a certain amount of money to be happy.

today I'm not going to listen to society.  Today I'm going to be me and do what I need to do.
(And I'm going to find my next book to listen to.)
