collection inspirations

I have seen some great photos on my fav site pinterest recently that have made me want to start collecting a few items.  The only thing stopping me is that I refuse to pay a lot for them.  We just got back from a great weekend in Colorado and hit a few yard sales and it makes me want to be able to work on these projects without putting a lot of money into it.  I currently don't have anything like this, but I will definitely be keeping my eye out:

1. shutters-
I love this idea. And this old door idea too.

and this
If any of you ever see any old shutters anywhere, let me know.

2. letters.  I love these inspiration pics.
3. crates. Such a fun idea. My sister's idea with the trunk is wonderful too. I can never seem to find any of those though, I doubt I will have much more luck with crates. Pallets are good too- check this and this out.

4. doilies. I don't have any, but think I may need to start a collection (but not at $3 a pop like I saw at an antique store the other day).

What new inspirations have you seen lately?

long weekends

I'm so excited for this long weekend. We are taking a trip to Colorado to visit my Grandpa who I haven't seen since his stroke.  Since today was supposed to be the day we closed on our house and it didn't end up happening, I figured instead I would share a sneak peak of what we worked on last weekend.

Hopefully next week I can post about closing on our house!

3 years

Jake and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary on Tuesday. This is the only picture I took.  We didn't do anything too special- went to dinner, enjoyed a snow cone and enjoyed the sweet memories from our wedding 3 years ago.

It reminded me of this quote that I saw on pinterest:

time

I just spent way too much time on this site (my new favorite) which led me to many blogs with other great pictures which then gave me way too many fun ideas and pictures of what I would love our house to look like, which then left me feeling overwhelmed and stressed out with way too many decisions to make.

That was a long sentence, but that's what my last hour consisted of. I guess I need to stop complaining that I don't have enough time for things when I spend my time like that.

to long for

To have a desire for; to yearn for; to crave for.

What do you long for today?  I tried not to think about it because I am aware that it makes me sound very desperate, unhappy and ungrateful.  But sometimes my heart longs for so many things.

I long to be a new mother at this time of my life. Even knowing the challenges and uncertainty ahead, I would gladly change it for where I am at right now.
I long for days when I can work on something that I know has more meaning then what I am doing now. I am painfully aware of my age and where I am at and where I wish I was.

What are you longing for today?

life is short

As I was unpacking a vase to put some tulips from the yard in, I thought "I should put this back and not use it- I will just have to pack it back up for when we move soon."  It fit perfectly in it's box and the bubble wrap was around each little bottle.

Then, I remembered something my brother reminded me of when I spoke to him yesterday "life is short."

And, I unpacked my cute vase to put these beauties in. Because, life is short and it adds happiness to my day.

It also reminded me of a quote from The Happiness Project: The days are long, but the years are short. Today is another long, rainy day.  But time is short. So I'm going to enjoy the flowers today.

weekly miracle(s)

I know it's been more than a week since the list time I shared a miracle of the week. And I am aware that it's the beginning of a week, but I have two miracles to share.
1. I passed my insurance property and casualty test. I am just waiting for the state of Utah to approve my license, and I will start helping Jake in his office.
2. We are under contract on our house!! The closing date is May 26, so we are hoping it really happens then.  It will be great to have a few weeks to paint, etc before we have to be out of our current place. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it happens that way.

52 Photos Project -week 2

Week 2: color

Isn't it amazing how much color and joy children can add to your life? I was able to see 6 of them this weekend that always brighten my soul.

This little one was so cute with all his funny faces to the camera.

mothers

I am so grateful to so many mothers in my life. I am grateful for my beautiful mother and everything she has taught me. I am so grateful to consider her a best friend.  I am grateful for my mother-in-law who raised my amazing husband and for her sweet kindness.
I am grateful for my amazing sisters and sisters-in-law who show me what motherhood is all about and do it with style.  I am thankful for the sweet older sisters at the temple who are still mothers to so many, including me.

here's a great tribute to mothers.  Happy Mother's Day.

the graduate

I am so proud of my wonderful husband. He graduated today and we were able to celebrate with some wonderful people.

Here are some of them:

We had a wonderful cake made by this lovely lady

And, after not clearly understanding the times and events for the day we were able to watch Jake put on his cap and gown:

I guess now it's time for real adult life to begin :) I think I would rather remain students forever.
