I am already in vacation mode for the upcoming holidays. It's bad, but I am so ready for them to come. Not ready as in the gifts are ready and the decorations are up, but mentally ready to relax and enjoy the company of family and friends. The problem is that I have started too early. My house is a mess, I haven't done a great job of doing dishes this week and my clean laundry that was done on Monday was just barely put away last night. The work week has gone by, but has been fairly uneventful.
Although last night I did spend some quality time with my sewing machine. I still have more projects I want to do and somehow in spite of sewing last night I still didn't do any of the mending. It's just not as exciting as the other stuff!!
I do want to figure out how to make one of these. I found this tutorial, but it doesn't have the little pockets and stuff. Can all you experienced sewers out there tell me how to add them? I may just suck it up and buy one, but I would love to learn how so I can make them for others.

I'm thinking about the best way to add pockets (someone out there might be able to help better, I am across the country), but did look at it. This would be a great gift!
I enjoyed the beginning of your post: I seem to have all of the same problems as you... it is bad! At least you have dishes- I'm kind of too lazy to cook this week and Dan's too busy at work to care so I've gotten off the hook. Enjoy your holidays!
For the pockets it looks to me like they were assembled as separate pieces using the same methods as the main folder part. She probably added them in when she did the topstitching all the way around. Looks like the pockets are just topstitched in place which would hold just fine. If you don't think it would hold you could do a separate row of top stitching next to the first (or use a zigzag or other decorative stitch). When making the pocket pieces just make sure they'll all the same finished width and I think it would work just fine. And then when you finish yours, make one for me too because I think it looks super cute! I expect pictures!
I saw a tutorial on this exact thing very recently. Let me see if I can find it. ask Jen too she saw it I think.
